A record of 6.15 million trips was made by Chinese mainland tourists to overseas
destinations during the sevenday Spring Festival holiday, which ended on Thursday, according to
the China National Tourism Administration. That is an increase of 7 percent compared with last
year’s Spring Festival. About 374,000 trips were organized by travel agencies, a 2.5 percent
increase.
The administration also reported growth from individual and highend(高端的) travelers and
said that in addition to top and coastal cities, inland cities—such as those in the Guangxi Zhuang
Autonomous Region—became important source markets. With many Chinese now traveling
abroad for Spring Festival, their choice of destinations has expanded along with their growing
interest in foreign cultures and services.
“Chinese tourists are increasingly willing to experience local cultures and services,
including staying in private homes, appreciating plants and watching monkeys in hot springs,”
Li Xuejing, the agency’s marketing manager, said.
A Chinese tourist surnamed Guo, who was vacationing on an island in the Philippines, said:
“I now pay more attention to relaxation and enjoyment during the holidays instead of shopping or
choosing gifts for relatives.”
Another choice is Britain. Though the devaluation(货币贬值) of the pound is a factor,
Britain’s rich history and famous education tradition have caught the eye of Chinese.

(2018·杭州二中高三入学测试)Enjoying a musical performance no longer requires a costly
ticket or a trip to a theater. These days, musicians are performing in private homes,at haircutting
shops,at airports...even on ferry boats.
Musicians like house concerts. At music clubs, they often have to perform over loud
conversation or deal with people who have had too much alcohol.People at house concerts are
more focused on listening to the music.
Just a few hours before the Bombadils started singing at the O’Hair Salon,Lindsay was
cutting hair and Tamera was doing facials. Then, they moved chairs and microphones to create a
small performance space. The Bombadils made music in the front part of the hair salon, near the
hairdryers and makeup tables.
“This is our first show at a hair salon,” Sarah Frank of the Bombadils told concertgoers
at last week’s performance.Frank said she and band members,Luke Fraser and Kaitlyn Raitz had
a great time “interacting” with the audience.
Concerts in people’s homes,or small businesses such as O’Hair’s,are becoming more
popular,musicians say.“There is a more relaxed atmosphere,”said Domenic Cicala,a
musician who opened up his O’Hair Salon to concerts.“People really get to know the artists.”
At house concerts, people get time before and after concerts to meet the performers.Often,
the hosts or guests will provide food and drink.
“People really like listening to music in the living room of a friend,”said Matt Hart,
with Aubrey Zoli making up the Local Strangers,a folkrock group based in Seattle. At many
such concerts, the musicians do not need microphones.Yet,every word of their songs can be
heard.

time.”

My dear fellow students,
Recently I’ve noticed shared bikes, such as Mobike and Ofo, parked in our campus, and
even private locks are put on them. Shared bikes bring people great convenience as they provide
an effective solution to the “last mile” problem. Hence, shared bikes should be left in public for
next users. It is morally wrong that we take possession of one for our own selfish interest. I

Missus__Sommers one day found herself the unexpected owner of fifteen dollars. It seemed
to her a very large amount of money. For a day or two, she walked around in a dreamy state as she
thought about her choices. Her daughter Janie was wearing worn shoes and needed new ones. She
would buy cloth for new shirts for the boys.
Her daughter Mag should have another dress. And still there would be enough left for new
stockings(长袜) for her children.
On the day she planned to go shopping with the money, she had eaten a light meal—no!
Between getting the children fed and the house cleaned, and preparing herself to go shopping, she
had forgotten to eat at all!
When she arrived at the large department store. She spotted a pile of silk stockings at the
entrance. A sign nearby announced that they had been reduced in price. A young girl behind the
counter asked her if she wished to examine the silky leg coverings. She smiled and started to
feel the soft,__costly items. Missus Sommers picked up a black pair and looked at them closely.
She loved them. She looked up at the shop girl and asked, “Well, I will buy this pair.”
Missus Sommers changed her cotton stockings for the new silk ones in a rest room. How
good was the touch of the silk on her skin! Then she put her shoes back on and put her old
stockings into her bag. Next, she went to the shoe department, where she tried on a pair of new
boots. Her feet and ankles(脚踝) looked lovely. She could not believe that they were a part of
herself.

Paragraph 1:
After buying a pair of new boots, she walked into the clothes department. She walked around
excitedly and saw many fancy dresses neatly displayed. Never had she stepped into such a
beautiful department before. Luckily, she could still afford a dress with the remaining money.
She tried it on, admiring herself in the mirror. It matched perfectly with the costly silk stockings
and new boots. “Is this elegant lady Missus__Sommers?” she murmured. Meanwhile, she
couldn’t help thinking that if she had had enough money, she could have bought whatever she
wanted.

Paragraph 2:
It was time she had to go back home. She walked out of the clothes department and the cold
blowing wind made her awake all at once. She suddenly realized she had used up all the fifteen
dollars! She had no money left for Janie’s shoes, Mag’s dress, and her sons’ shirts. The more
she thought about her children, the more regretful she became. She fell as if having had a dream. It
was time she woke up and faced the reality. She turned around and headed for the department
store, hoping to get all her money back.
